Bam Bam Chicken will move into a storefront at 245 Pleasant Street. The site was once a Dunkin' Donuts location.
District Kitchen offers what it describes as modern and authentic Chinese food, specializing in seafood and dumplings.
Bam Bam Chicken will offer a variety of American-style chicken options as part of a larger menu that Zhang teased in recent comments to Eater Boston.
Highlights include everything from fried Oreos to barbecue pulled pork sandwiches, Eater reported.
An expansion for Zhang, the prospect of a new chicken spot in Malden comes as another chapter in a moment of buzz for the local dining scene.

Back at Bam Bam, Duffy said Zhang recently secured permits to begin work on the new space. In the meantime, the restaurant now has a website.
"We know you're hungry," a message on the site reads. "But don't worry! We’ll open soon for delivery and takeout."
