Police Arrest 2 In Malden Armed Robbery Investigation

Malden Police said they partnered with State Police and the FBI in what police described as an ad-hoc task force investigation.

MALDEN, MA — A man and a woman are set to face charges in connection with a string of armed robberies in Malden, Malden Police announced late Wednesday night.

Police said they made arrests earlier in the day after assembling what they described as an ad-hoc task force of State Police, FBI and Malden Police personnel.

Police said George Johnson and Marie McCallum were believed to have both been involved in armed robberies over several months in Malden. The task force, police said, began observing Johnson’s behavior before arresting him this week.

Police said they moved in as Johnson moved to enter a convenience store on Highland Avenue. They said they arrested McCallum “a short distance away.”

Police did not itemize charges against Johnson and McCallum. They said both were taken to the Malden Police Station, where they will be charged.
