Recovery Center Under Development In Malden
The Gavin Foundation and Malden Overcoming Addiction are collaborating on the Bridge Recovery Center in Malden.
MALDEN, MA — The Gavin Foundation and Malden Overcoming Addiction announced this month they will develop and operate a recovery center in Malden. The Bridge Recovery Center will provide peer recovery in a "safe and supportive environment, through skill-building and guidance that allows peers to support each other's recovery efforts," the Gavin Foundation said in a statement.
The center will utilize the Cambridge Health Alliance for outpatient clinical services; Cataldo Ambulance for NARCAN training; ABCD for food services, housing assistance, fuel assistance and job training; Business Solutions Unplugged for computer classes; 3MG Boston for media workshops; the YMCA for health and wellness; and Seven Mile Road Church for spiritual well-being.
BRC will use a peer-to-peer recovery model, an established decision-making process where peer volunteers initiate, design, create, implement and evaluate BRC activities and policies. The activities are designed for and by people in recovery, are culturally relevant and responsive to community needs, the Foundation said.
