2nd Arrest Made In Shooting That Killed Young Malden Resident

The shooting took place in October.

MALDEN, MA — A second person has been arrested in connection to an October shooting incident in Boston's Mattapan neighborhood that killed a Malden woman, the Boston Police Department announced on Friday.

Kwessi Silcott, 20, of Mattapan, is now facing charges of murder and carrying a firearm without a license after being apprehended by police in Roxbury. Dhkrai Wornum-Brown, 22, was also arrested in Roxbury on Tuesday, Dec. 30 for the same crimes. Wornum-Brown was arraigned in court on Friday and pleaded not guilty to both charges.

Police responded to the scene in the vicinity of 2 Hiawatha Road in Mattapan on the afternoon of Saturday, Oct. 11 to discover three people suffering from gunshot wounds. 18-year-old G’Kiyah Lewis of Malden died on Friday, Nov. 7 after being hospitalized with critical injuries for nearly a month. She was a senior at Malden High School. According to Boston police, the other two victims are adult males who suffered non-life-threatening injuries and made full recoveries.

Despite the two arrests made, the situation is still being investigated by Boston’s homicide detectives.
