Report Of Man Dancing On Tracks Prompts Orange Line Delays: Police
Transit Police shut down a subway third rail, though officers were unable to locate the man, Malden Police Chief Glenn Cronin said.

MALDEN, MA — Reports of a man dancing on train tracks near the Malden Center MBTA stop were the cause of transit delays north of Boston early Tuesday afternoon, according to Malden Police Chief Glenn Cronin.
Orange Line and Commuter Rail trains initially fell behind schedule around noon on Tuesday as the T shared alerts of “police activity” at Malden Center. Trains resumed regular service roughly an hour later, after 1 p.m., the T said. Delays initially numbered up to 15 minutes on the Orange Line and the Commuter Rail, according to the T.
MBTA Transit Police officials did not immediately respond to an inquiry about this incident on Tuesday.

Cronin told Patch, though, that Malden Police heard reports of a man on the tracks. He said his department alerted Transit Police, who shut down an electrified subway third rail in the area.
Both Malden Police and Transit Police responded to the Malden Center station, according to Cronin. Though Cronin said police believed the man made is way southbound toward Boston along the Orange Line track, he said officers were unable to locate him.
