Rock Spot Bringing Climbing Facility To Malden
The Rhode Island-based chain is opening a 5,700-square-foot rock climbing facility in Malden Center.
MALDEN, MA — A new rock climbing facility is on its way to Malden.
Rock Spot Climbing, a Rhode Island-based chain of climbing centers, recently announced its third Massachusetts location in Malden Center. The facility will be 5,705 square feet and focus solely on bouldering, a form of climbing that is done without ropes, the company said in a press release.
The facility will feature 15-foot climbing walls surrounded by a fully padded flooring system.

"We are absolutely thrilled to be the gateway into the city of Malden with this new location across the street from the Malden Center Station," Nadav Minkin, co-owner of Rock Spot Climbing, said in a statement. "Our brand of accessible climbing attracts people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the sport with friends and family."
Bouldering was featured when climbing debuted at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. It will be Rock Spot's second gym that focuses on this type of climbing.

"Our business has grown exponentially with the introduction of the sport into the Summer Olympics last year and more people looking for activities and experiences they can share together," co-owner Lary Norin said.
The company, founded 25 years ago, has two other locations in Massachusetts, three in Rhode Island and one in Connecticut.
"We look forward to bringing our successful brand of accessible, world-class climbing and training to the city of Malden!" Norin added.
