Which Road in Malden Needs a Speed Bump?
We asked Patch readers on Facebook what streets they thought needed a speed bump. Find out what your neighbors told us.

Malden, MA- Over 9,000 fatalities occurred nationally during 2014 due to speeding according to the latest statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The data also shows a correlation between a driverβs age and the likelihood of a speed-related accident. As the age of a driver increases, their risk of being in an accident decreases. Men are also more likely to be at the wheel during a speeding accident, according to the study.
While the number of speed-related fatalities have continually decreased since 2005, speeding still remains an issue in many of our Patch communities, including Malden. Readers suggested everything from increased police presence to more stop signs to building less housing to keep traffic at bay.

If youβre frustrated with speeders in a certain part of Malden, you are in good company. We reached out to readers on Facebook, asking which local road they thought needed a speed bump. Hereβs what your neighbors told us:
- "Lebanon Street at the curve near the In & Out Convenience Store. It is a ridiculous corner that people take at speeds in excess of 30-40 MPH, all times of year, in all kinds of weather."
- "Intersection of Monroe St and Hancock Rd. No one stops at the stop signs. They fly right through, and one of the kids is going to get hit."
- "Let's put speed bumps down Pleasant At. Or over by Broadway, or down Ferry St."
- "Cross Street near Ferryway Elementary School. People speed, run the light, and have no concern that it's a school zone."
- "LYNN STREET. Stop spending money replacing fences and front porches and put in a speed bump or traffic light!"
- "Charles Street, major cut through and there are kids and an elderly apartment building in this area."
- " LYNN STREET. So many accidents. I think Holy Cross cemetery replaces fences every other month."
- "Avon Street! It's used as a cut through from the Fells to get to Highland Ave. People fly down every day!"
- "Steven's Street. People drive WAY too fast down this very narrow road."
- "Glenwood and Clifton! People drive like maniacs around the curves on Glenwood, and fly through the stop signs on Clifton."
