Mansfield Boys LAX Beat Plymouth North 14-7
Mansfield moves on in the state tournament game beating Plymouth North 14-7.

Mansfield Lacrosse took out Plymouth North on Wednesday 14-7 after a very evenly matched game.
Mansfield ran out ahead in the fourth period, but was going neck and neck with the Eagles for most of the game.
Mansfield pulled ahead early in the first, scoring five times over Plymouth’s one.

Mansfield’s Tim Shield took the first blood with a shot 3:11 into the first period.
Plymouth’s Jared Bramhall fired back with a shot 31 seconds later.

Hornet Mike Censorio followed up with another score a little less than a minute later. Censorio scored again later, along with Blayne Taylor and Tim Shield. The first period ended 5-1 with Mansfield in the lead.
But Plymouth was far from done. Matt Josoephine took a goal two minutes into the second. He tried again 30 seconds later, but Mansfield goalie Matt Dolliver made an amazing save to stem the momentum.
Mansfield took possession again, but two saves from goalie Matthew Ryan gave possession back to the Eagles. Nick Curtis drived the ball back and scored with 8:23 left in the half.
Plymouth’s Matt Josephine scored another goal with 1:48 left in the half, but was not counted because he went onto the field too early.
Curtis made up for it though, with an impressive goal with only 12 seconds to go in the half. Plymouth also regained possession in that time. The half ended with the Eagles threatening Mansfield’s lead 5-4.
Mansfield’s Christian Bellavance scored early in the third period. 45 seconds in he shot a blast into the net to bring the score to 6-4.
But Plymouth’s Travis Hunt answered back not 15 seconds later. His score was followed up by Josephine to tie the game 6-6.
Mansfield found their momentum, scoring three times in the remaining four minutes of the period. Mike Barressi scored twice in that time and Brent Doherty scored as well.
The Eagles could only answer one goal, scored by Bob Savoia. The half ended 9-7.
While Plymouth really had a chance to turn the game around, Mansfield gave them no chance. Nearly the entire period was spent in the Eagles side of the field. Mansfield scored five times during the last period, from Tim Shield, Dyan Fong, Colin Jenks, Mike Barressi and Dylan Finerty.
“It’s the resiliency of this team,” said Mansfield heac coach Tim Frias. “It’s about the conditioning every day and they work hard one it. It’s the senior leadership here.”
During the game, Tim Shield had two assists, while Censorio, Brent Doherty, Chris Shield, Tucker Saunders Dan Gilmore and Brendan Murphy each had one.
“We played a hard game for three quarters,” said Plymouth head coach Paul Nicholls. “They’re a good team, that’s why they’re eighth in the state. We’re a young team. It’s a good squad, it’s the best team we’ve had. A good game from all our seniors.”
