Mansfield Police Log: Arson, Radiohead and Mailboxes

The following is from the Mansfield Police Log from May 25 to May 30.

May 25

6:18 p.m. Mark West, 55, of 20 Paine Rd. in North Attleboro was arrested for larceny over $250.

7:08 a.m. Caller reported that 16 of his pink plastic flamingos were stolen during the night on Central Street.

9:13 a.m. Caller reported that a vehicle struck her vehicle while she was working at Café on the Common and the offending vehicle drove off.

May 27

8:30 a.m. Caller reported that someone had struck his mailbox with a motor vehicle and drove off. Police found that the offending vehicle also struck and damaged the curb.

10:30 a.m. Reporting party came into the station and stated that his lawnmower was stolen from his residence on Highland Avenue.

9:42 p.m. James Hanson, 49, of 113 McGovern St. in Fall River was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon. His wife called Mansfield police and stated that he was threatening her. He was placed under protective custody and then charged with assault with a dangerous weapon by means of a hatchet.

10:38 p.m. Caller reported that he came home to find his house on Maple Street burglarized. A laptop and jewelry were taken. The burglar apparently moved a wine bottle and fingerprints were taken as evidence.

May 28

12:30 a.m. Police found damage on several mailboxes on East Street.

9:26 a.m. Caller reported that someone stole his mailbox and his mail on Shady Brook Lane.

May 29

4:56 a.m. Maurice Rigaud, 40, of 91 Center St. in Dorchester was arrested for arson of property and disorderly conduct. He was seen by a Coffee Shop operator near the train station emptying two trash cans by the station and lighting two fires, one of the raised platform and one under the station’s overhang. Police found him in the bushes a few minutes later.

4:54 p.m. The following are arrests related to the Comcast Center Radiohead concert.

Benjamin Arndt, 29, of 1504 Bay Rd. in Miami Beach Florida was arrested for possession of a class B substance.

Ryan Breiling, 27, of 18 Pleasant Valley Rd. in Clinton Connecticut was arrested for possession of class B and D substances.

Four other people were taken into protective custody due to public intoxication.

6:41 p.m. Caller reported that a hit and run occurred on Spring Street.

May 30

4:53 p.m. Caller reported that two females just shoplifted a Bose speaker system and left the area.
