Christmas, Hanukkah Events In Marblehead: Lights, Santa, More

MARBLEHEAD, MA — There are plenty of things going on around Marblehead to celebrate the 2023 winter holidays.

Hanukkah, the eight-day Jewish festival of lights, starts at sundown on Dec. 7, and ends at nightfall on Dec. 15. Christmas, of course, is on Dec. 25, but you don’t have to wait to start taking in all the sights and sounds of the season.

Santa Claus is coming to town in Marblehead this weekend. And his arrival will cause some traffic disruption.

Marblehead police will put in place temporary detours and road closures both Friday night and Saturday for the town tree lighting and the annual Christmas Walk & Holiday Stroll with Santa Claus arriving at Clark Landing.

The tree lighting will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday with the Christmas Walk & Holiday at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday.

The Marblehead Little Theater will host an evening of sparkling lights, snowflakes, Christmas trees, menorahs and Santa for its "Celebrate the Season: A Family Songfest" in conjunction with the town's Christmas Walk Weekend.

The show debuts on Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. with a second show on Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $22.50 for adults and $15 for children 3 and older, and are available here.

Those wishing to pay Santa a special visit can do so daily at the Northshore Mall in Peabody.
