Disaster Assistance Deadline Extended
The deadline has been extended to file for assistance from FEMA for March's rainstorm.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has extended the deadline for those who want to file for disaster assistance for damage done during March's rainstorm.
The deadline for residents and businesses to file was originally March 28, but has been extended to June 28 for Essex County. So far, FEMA has alocated $37,000 for Marblehead claims.Â
Marblehead's Director of Emergency Management Lt. Charles Cerrutti said the town wasn't hard hit by the storm.

"There weren't any real issues town-wide," he said.
Cerrutti said while previous wild weather has led to collapsed pipes, this time the town was spared.Â

"We actually had more damage from the wind storm (after the flooding)," he said. "With trees and wires down and man-power costs."
Cerrutti said with a town on the ocean and often subject to wicked weather, resident have become adept at filing for assistance from FEMA when disaster strikes.
Cerrutti said he believes the majority of that $37,000 allocated to Marblehead was for private residents.
