Record Scratch Ticket Prize Lands in Marblehead

The largest scratch ticket prize ever - from the most expensive ticket in state history - has gone to an anonymous winner represented by two Marblehead-based trustees.

The winner was BWE Nominee Trust of Marblehead, which stands for “Best Week Ever.” The BWE Trust is represented by trustees Andrew G. Christensen and Stephen J. Farrar, who on Tuesday claimed the first $15 million grand prize in the State Lottery’s $30 ticket “World Class Millions” instant game.

The trust chose the cash option and received a one-time payment of $9.75 million, according to the lottery.

The winning ticket was purchased at Nicole’s Mini Food Store at 406 Essex St. in Salem. The store will receive a $50,000 commission for selling the winning ticket - the highest retailer commission paid by the Lottery.

There are still three $15 million prizes in the “World Class Millions”game, the first $30 scratch ticket from the State Lottery.

So far, 8 of the game’s 36 $1 million instant prizes have been claimed. In addition the game features the largest second chance drawing by any U.S. lottery. The first second chance drawing in June awarded one $1 million prize, ten $10,000 prizes, 100 $1,000 prizes and 1,000 $100 prizes.

Over seven million “World Class Millions” tickets have been sold statewide since the game launched on April 22.
