Sylvia Ellin (Stone) was a resident of Peabody and a longtime resident of Marblehead.

MARBLEHEAD, MA —Sylvia Ellin (Stone), age 63, of Boston, MA, formerly of Marblehead, MA, passed away on Friday, January 7th.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Esther Rios (Mojica) & Thomas Ellin, step-daughter of Anibal Mojica. She is survived by her loving daughter Kayla Stone of Boston, MA, former husband David Stone of Marblehead, MA, sister Patricia Mojica (Mangual) & husband Angel Mangual of Queens, NY, brother Thomas Ellin & wife Carmen Ellin of Northvale, NJ, godmother and aunt of Camille Mangual (Fonti) of Queens, NY, and aunt of Alexa Ellin (McCaffrey) of Closter, NJ.

Sylvia was born in the Bronx, NY and pursued her passion for fashion and retail after attending Walton High School. She eventually moved to Miami, Florida where she met her future husband, David. They were married in Hawaii and moved to Peabody, MA where their daughter Kayla was born. Shortly after Kayla arrived, the two relocated to David’s hometown of Marblehead, MA. Sylvia worked for Hattie’s Dress Shop (formerly of Chelsea, MA) followed by the Woburn District Court.
Sylvia was vivacious; she celebrated every occasion to the fullest. She loved to entertain and was always the life of the party. An exceptional cook who will always be remembered for her empanadas, arroz con gandules (rice and beans) and pernil (roast pork). She enjoyed dancing, music, gardening and interior design.

Sylvia was thoughtful and generous; no holiday or occasion passed without a phone call, a card or a gift. She had an effortless way of making her family feel special; she treated friends like family and acquaintances like long-time friends.
Sylvia will be missed by many.
Service Information:
Viewing will be held at the Thomas C. Montero Funeral Home (1848 Westchester Ave. Bronx, NY) on Tuesday, January 18th from 2-8:30 p.m.
Graveside Service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery (4199 Webster Ave, Bronx, NY) on Wednesday, January 19th at 11 a.m.
