100 Years Ago: Cowboy Knocked Out in Wild West Show

July 14, 1911: Mexican Joe is Injured: Thrown from Broncho During Afternoon Performance of Wild West Show

Joseph Gonzales, who rejoices or sorrows under the more ambitious name of Mexican Joe, while attempting to mount a horse at the California Frank Wild West show Thursday afternoon, was thrown to the ground and rendered unconscious for the time being. He was removed to one of the living cars of the show on a siding of the New Haven road and attended by Dr. E.G. Hoitt, who said late Thursday night that he would recover.
