100 Years Ago: Immaculate Conception Takes 300 Students from Public Schools

Sept. 6, 1911: Not Work for All the Teachers: Problem Confronts School Board as There Are 300 Pupils Less Than Last Year

Members of the school board were in thoughtful mood Tuesday evening when they discussed a policy made necessary by the opening of the new parochial school of the Immaculate Conception parish. 

Supt. O.A. Morton made a report in which he showed that the number of pupils in the public schools the opening day was 300 less than was the case a year ago. This was brought about, he said, by the attendance at the new parochial school.
