5 Things You Need to Know Today: Oct. 20

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1. After nearly 24 hours of rain, the National Weather Service says we can expect showers until 10 a.m., then progressively sunny skies with a high of 68 degrees. 

2. The , along with over 1,300 other car wash locations across the nation will provide free car washes to veterans and current military service personnel, under the Grace For Vets Free Wash Program on Friday, Nov. 11 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Washes will be given rain or shine at their location on Rte. 20 in Marlborough.

3. The next test date for the entrance test to the program is on Wednesday, Nov. 9, during the evening, from 6 until approximately 9 p.m. Registration must take place at least 48 hours prior to the date, and can be done online. Applicants should visit the website, www.assabettech.com, click on LPN Program and then go to Quick links-Entrance Exam to register and sign up for an exam. There is a Study Guide available at the same site. Bring confirmation of test registration the evening of the exam.

4. This Sunday, Oct. 23 at 91 Main St. from 6 to 8 p.m. there will be a fundraiser at Vin Bin for the MHS students going to China in April 2012. Come see the new Vin Bin, enjoy music provided by Jabroni Basement, and of course sample some great wine and cheese. Tickets are $5. To purchase tickets, contact your favorite MHS Mandarin student or email Sandra St. Amour at psa@compagocreative.com; or you can just pay when you get there.
