5 Things You Need to Know Today: Oct. 24

1. Ellen Santos, the LPN program director at , recently was asked to present at The National League for Nursing Education Summit in Orlando, FL. About 800 nurse educators from across the US were at the four day summit. Santos, and her counterpart from Blackstone Valley Tech, Kathy Ashe, made a poster presentation on the Aging Well Assessment Day held at the schools.
2. There is a kickoff meeting to plan for a series of region-wide events this coming January on the MLK holiday weekend in 2012. The meeting is Monday, Oct. 24, 6 to 7 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church 353 River Road in Hudson. If you'd like to get involved, come to the meeting or make contact via the website.
3. Join the Marlborough Chamber of Commerce next Friday, Oct. 28 for their annual Halloween Networking Before Nine at , 81 Granger Blvd. This networking event is always so much fun! 4. Local photographer Kim Rosen has started a nonprofit photography business to benefit cancer research. When you hire her services at $35 an hour, you pay her by writing a check out to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. 5. Both mayoral candidates will be holding meet and greets on the afternoon of Tuesday, Oct. 25. Matthew Jones will be at the from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Arthur Vigeant will be hosting an open house at the proposed site of the new Marlborough Senior Center—The West Meeting House, 86 Pleasant St., from 4 to 6 p.m. This is an opportunity for residents to tour the building and provide feedback about the process.
