5 Things You Need to Know Today: Sept. 12

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1. Look for partly-sunny skies today with a high in the upper 70s. There is also a chance of showers after 3 p.m., says the National Weather Service

2. On Thursday, Sept. 22, the Epicurean Room restaurant at will be re-opening for the 2011-2012 season, and the kick off will be an all you can eat buffet for $8.50. The restaurant had a complete makeover this summer, and is adding many new delectable dishes for your dining pleasure. The restaurant will be open from Tuesdays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with an 'all you can eat' buffet on Thursdays. Reservations are encouraged, as it often fills, and can be made by calling 508-485-9430, ext. 1119. 

3. On Sept. 16 Power Home Remodeling Group will open in Marlborough. It is the nation's fourth largest home remodeling company, and they will celebrate the opening of their new Marlborough location with a ribbon-cutting ceremony where they'll announce their plans to bring 100 new hires and green jobs to the area in 2011, as well as hand over a $10,000 donation to the Massachusetts YouthBuild Coalition. Lt. Governor Timothy Murray, and Marlborough are scheduled to make remarks at the event.

4.  We've mentioned this several times now, but it bears mention one more time as today is the final day that the city of Marlborough's Labor Day Committee is holding a Red Sox ticket raffle with a drawing at 2 p.m. to benefit the 2011 Labor Day Parade. Each raffle entry is $10 and entry forms can be picked up at the or obtained by contacting the parade director, Ed Thurber at (508) 485-4599. There are (2) sets of tickets being raffled off and are for the Red Sox vs. Baltimore game on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
