5 Things You Need to Know Today: Sept. 16
Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1. The weather forecast is simple today: Sunny with a high of 61 degrees. It appears fall has arrived.
2. As college students get settled on campus, fighting fraud may not be at the top of their list of priorities. College students are susceptible to identity theft, however, and the local chapter of the Better Business Bureau recommends that they take seven simple steps to protect themselves on campus. 3. along with Simon & Schuster children’s publishing team are bringing a monthly story hour to Solomon Pond Mall beginning Saturday, Sept. 17. The story hour will entertain children through stories, activities and games. In September, this "Read, Play, Shop!" event will be at Centre Court near Ann Taylor and Abercrombie & Fitch. Each month, children will enjoy listening to the captivating stories and participating in fun activities. Raffles will also be held for lucky Kidgits Club members to take home books. This month's selections include: "Say Hello to Zorro!" by Carter Goodrich, "Hootenanny!" by Kimberly Ainsworth / Illustrations by Jo Brown, "Say What?" by Angela DiTerlizzi/ Illustrations by Joey Chou, "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" by Judith Viorst / Illustrations by Ray Cruz, "I Must HaveBobo!" by Eileen Rosenthal / Illustrations by Marc Rosenthal, and "Stars" by Mary Lyn Ray / Illustrations by Marla Frazee.

4. The is giving a call to local artists: The gallery will be accepting submissions Sept. 22-29 for their 2011 Landscape Show that opens Thursday, Oct. 6 with a reception. There is a $75 first prize being awarded to the winner of the juried show. See the attached flier for details.
5. One final reminder: Homeowners still cleaning up after Hurricane Irene, the city's debris depot will be open through tomorrow. Don't run out of time and .
