5 Things You Need to Know Today: Sept. 26

1. The warm weather will persist through today with a high of 81 degrees accompanied by partly-sunny skies, says the National Weather Service

2. There will be a ribbon cutting on Tuesday at 4 p.m. to celebrate the opening of . Buy a coffee or some baked goods while browsing the art in the Mad Hatter Gallery. 

3. Housing & Economic Development Secretary Greg Bialecki will meet with and other officials from Marlborough just after noon at 200 Forrest St., a site that has been identified for potential economic development through the 495/MetroWest Development Compact Study. The developing study will outline a shared framework around state, regional, and local strategies for priority development, land preservation, and transportation and other infrastructure investments in the region.

4. Residents of Marlborough will be joining with people from around the country this weekend to raise a united voice in the fight against brain tumors. Joyce Auclair, Danielle O’Hearn, Marshall O’Hearn, Laurie Whitten and Roy Whitten are taking part in the Boston Brain Tumor Walk, one of the nine walks that take place throughout the year to support the fight against brain tumors through the National Brain Tumor Society. The 5K walk will take place on Saturday, Oct. 1 on Castle Island in South Boston. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and programs and activities run from 9 a.m. to noon.
