5 Things You Need to Know Today: Sept. 5

Here is a list of things going on in and around Marlborough today.

1. There is a 40 percent chance of precipitation today after 11 a.m. Otherwise expect cloudy skies and a high of 79 degrees. 

2. Fire fighters Brian McGlory and Jim Polechronis of appeared on the 46th annual MDA Labor Day Telethon, broadcast on WCVB-TV Channel 5 on Sunday, Sept. 4. Marlborough Fire was recognized for supporting the Muscular Dystrophy Association and contributing to the local Telethon. Carlucci presented $20,330 to MDA, which was raised through contributions from the 2011 Fill the Boot campaign, a golf tournament and ski muster.

3. The is giving a call to local artists: The gallery is now accepting submissions for their 2011 Landscape Show that opens Thursday, Oct. 6 with a reception. There is a $75 first prize being awarded to the winner of the juried show. (See attached flier for more details)

4. Don't forget about the Labor Day Parade today! It begins at noon in the vicinity of Main Street.
