5 Things You Need to Know Today: Sept. 6
Here is a list of things going on in and around Marlborough today.

1. Expect a rainy day in Marlborough on Tuesday at least until 3 p.m., says the National Weather Service. Also, the high should not get above 63 degrees.
2. Rev. Dr. Nancy McMillan of the Central Massachusetts Paranormal Society will have her first blog go live on Marlborough Patch later this morning. The society is based in Marlborough and they conduct investigations throughout the region. Come back and read about some of their interesting adventures!
3. Marlborough Girl Scouts will kick-off the year by hosting Girl Scout sign up days, on Tuesday, Sept. 13 from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 22 from 6 to 8 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 25 from 2 to 4 p.m., at the 's Bigelow Auditorium. Be sure to stop by and meet new friends and find out what Girl Scouting is all about. Girl Scouts is available to all girls ages 5-17, and is flexible to meet girls and volunteer’s schedule through a variety of pathways such as camp, troops and a series of activities. Join Girl Scouts and take part in all the fun activities, offered to all levels for girls to participate in.

4. Area hoopsters recently had the opportunity to attend the FUNdamental Basketball Camp held at . The camp gave youngsters one more shot at honing their skills this summer, learning new techniques, and meeting fellow basketball players from around the area. Coach Frank Ferreer, Assabet’s very successful girls’ basketball coach, enjoyed the good weather and the camaraderie of the campers. “They come each year to try to learn something new, get more practice, and, let’s face it, to get out and do something a little different with their time. I see a lot of repeat campers, and certainly hope that many of them will choose to attend Assabet when the time comes,” he added.
5. The will be holding a memorial ceremony in remembrance of the events which occurred on Sept. 11, 2001. The ceremony will be held on Sept. 11, 2011 at the Walker Building, 255 Main St., and will commence promptly at 9:58 a.m. Check back later today for a full story on the upcoming event.
