5 Things You Need to Know Today: Sept. 8
Here is a list of things going on in and around Marlborough today.

1. The weather will be a bit warmer today with a high of 69 degrees, but probably just as rainy as the past couple of days.
2. Individuals interested in obtaining a Graduate Equivalency Diploma (GED) should register on Oct. 4 at from 4 to 6 p.m. You must bring a photo ID, a money order for $65 made out to Assabet Valley (no cash or check accepted), and, if you are between 16 and 18 years old, a letter from your high school stating the date of withdrawal. The GED test will be given at Assabet Valley on Oct. 18, 19 and 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. (You must be present all three nights.) The next registration session would not be until December. 3. The city of Marlborough's Labor Day Committee is holding a Red Sox ticket raffle from now until the day of the drawing (Sept. 12 at 2 p.m.) to benefit the 2011 Labor Day Parade. Each raffle entry is $10 and entry forms can be picked up at the Mayor’s office or obtained by contacting the parade director, Ed Thurber at (508) 485-4599. There are (2) sets of tickets being raffled off and are for the Red Sox vs. Baltimore game on Tuesday, Sept. 20.

4. Those hoping to run in the 2012 Boston Marathon will have their first opportunity in the application process this coming Monday. There is a calculator available to help you figure out if and when you will make it.
5. The Mayor's Youth Commission will meet this evening at the Ghiloni Park Recreation Building. Here is the agenda.
