'Battle Of The Boroughs' Will Take Over WooSox Game In 2024 Season
Marlborough, Westborough, Southborough and Northborough residents will battle for dominance as part of a 2024 season promotion.
MARLBOROUGH, MA — Sorry Middleborough, Tyngsborough, Foxborough and all the rest. This competition is only for the original 'boroughs.
As part of a series of promotional nights this season, the Worcester Red Sox will stage a "Battle of the Boroughs" night in August as part of the series of "town takeovers" throughout the season.
During the Aug. 14 battle, residents from Northborough, Westborough, Southborough and the original Marlborough can compete to see which community has the most fans in attendance.

The team also donates some proceeds from tickets sold during a town takeover game to a nonprofit in the given community — in this case, the 'boroughs game will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of MetroWest. Each takeover game also features locals in pre-game ceremonies, and town residents get $2 credits toward concessions or team merchandise.
The WooSox will begin the team's fourth season at Polar Park in Worcester on April 2 in a game against the Buffalo (NY) Bisons. The team will play the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on the night of the "Battle of the Boroughs."
