Jumpstart's Read for the Record program came to Marlborough last week.

Marlborough Early Childhood Center (MECC) preschoolers participated in Read for the Record day last Thursday, Oct. 6.

Classes met in the School Committee Room at the , and participated in reading an online book on the large screen. This year’s Read for the Record book was Anna Dewdney's Llama Llama Red Pajama.

Read for the Record brings millions of adults and children together in schools, libraries and community centers each year to set a new world record for the largest shared reading experience.

"The Read for the Record activity complements the MECC’s '1,000 Books Before Kindergarten,' a pre-literacy effort aimed at encouraging families to read at least 1,000 books to their preschoolers before they enter kindergarten," said Marlborough Public School communications liaison Beth Wagner.

The "1,000 Books Before Kindergarten" program is in its second year at the MECC.
