This Marlborough Company Is Ending Elderly Isolation One Meal At A Time
Heart to Home Meals was established in the state in 2019.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — A Marlborough-based company that delivers prepared meals to seniors is about more than just food.
Heart To Home Meals, which has operated for six years, now serves more than 1,700 customers in Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire.
"Our primary focus is beyond delivering meals," said Chris Webb, the company's president.

Webb said their delivery drivers don't just drop off meals. They check in, spend time with customers and build real connections.

The company offers more than 100 menu items, all produced in Canada, with next-day delivery available. But it's the personal touch that sets Heart To Home apart.

“We do so much to have fun with the customers," Webb said.
Drivers are encouraged to befriend customers. There are other activities, like raffles and bingo, which add a sense of community. Earlier this week, Webb said that more than 500 seniors phoned in to see if they had won a prize in the company's latest raffle.
Isolation among older adults is considered a growing public health issue. The U.S. Surgeon General has warned that loneliness can have health effects equivalent to smoking 15 cigarettes a day, according to a health advisory from 2023.
For some customers, the meal drop-off is more than just about nutrition. It can be their only visitor of the day.

Webb said Marlborough has been a strong base for the company's growth.
With its first franchise now open in North Carolina, Heart to Home is hoping that its combination of meals and human connection will help seniors in other parts of the country.
