MARLBOROUGH, MA — Two Marlborough ninth graders recently hosted their own online auction to benefit the Community Cupboard food pantry, which has been working overtime amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Advanced Math and Science Academy students Krishna Purimetla and Ryan Young auctioned off high-demand items — toilet paper, soap, face masks, gloves — using just a Google spreadsheet.

The students were able to raise $1,505 from friends and neighbors, and they used the money to contribute personal protect equipment like hand sanitizer and disposable masks to the cupboard.
