Nine Assabet Valley HS Students Medal in BPA National Leadership Conference

The National Leadership Conference is a culmination of the hard work and effort put in by members throughout the year.

Students and advisors of Business Professionals of America Valley Regional Technical High recently participated in the National BPA Leadership Conference held in Boston, MA. A total of nine student members and two advisors from this chapter were among the approximately 6,000 students, advisors and guests from across the United States participating in the 50th National Leadership Conference.

The National Leadership Conference is a culmination of the hard work and effort put in by members throughout the year. It brings students from across the country together to participate, network and compete. Activities included general sessions with keynote speakers, business meetings, leadership workshops, contests, election of national officers, and tours of Boston sights and attractions! The highlights of the conference included the revival of legacy competitions such as typing and shorthand, a Golden Celebration at Fenway Park, setting a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title, and the presentation of the awards to the winners of the national contests.

The Assabet Valley chapter is proud to announce that all nine students competing were able to cross the stage and be awarded medals representing the top ten in the nation in their particular field of endeavor. The medal winners were as follows: Gabriela DaCosta, and Daniel Padilla, both from Marlborough, and Abigail Mangsen and Katrina Pusateri, both from West Boylston, competing in Administrative Support Team, placing 7th in the U.S; Ryan Gordon, from West Boylston, placed 3rd in the U.S. in Computer Security; Paul Longtine, from Hudson, placed 9th in the U.S. in Information Technology Concepts; Gabriela DaCosta, also placed 6th in the U.S. in Medical Office Procedures: Jordan Correia, Clinton, Jonathan Leone, Shrewsbury, Daniel Padilla, Marlborough, and Barry White, Westborough, placed 10th in the U.S. in Small Business Management Team.\

“We wanted to celebrate this historic milestone for BPA by hosting a conference that 50-years from now our members can look back on and say they were a part of something amazing,” said Executive Director Kirk Lawson. “What better way to celebrate not only the past 50 years of our organization, but all the amazing accomplishments of our students and advisors than to hold the 50th National Leadership Conference in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.”
