Eldridge also announced a partnership between his re-election campaign and L'Italien campaign for Congress.
State Senator Jamie Eldridge, D-Acton, endorsed State Senator Barbara L’Italien in the race for Congress in the 3rd District with the announcement of a rally and joint day of action in Acton this Saturday.
Eldridge has helped the Senate usher in progressive legislation, including the recently passed environmental bill and safe communities budget amendment that protects immigrants across the state, said the announcement. Eldridge is widely known for his championship on single-payer health care, getting big money out of politics, clean energy and environment, criminal justice reform, and immigrant rights, among other issues, according to his office.
Eldridge announced his support for L’Italien with a detailed statement about why his colleague is the best progressive choice for the district:

“I’m proud to endorse Barbara L’Italien for Congress in the 3rd Congressional District," he said in a statement. "I have known and worked for Barbara for 16 years, and have seen up close her values, her fighting spirit and her commitment to helping those who are living in the shadows of life. Barbara has the strongest progressive track record in this race. I’ve seen her take on the tough fights in the legislature, from marriage equality to healthcare to supporting immigrants to LGBTQ rights to protecting services for the elderly and disabled, and she does not flinch."
Eldridge represents Acton, Ayer, Boxborough, Harvard, Hudson, Littleton, Marlborough, Maynard, Shirley, Stow and Sudbury in the 3rd Congressional District. He ran for Congress in this district in 2007 in the open special election.
Eldridge also announced a partnership between his re-election campaign and L'Italien campaign for Congress. The two will be kicking off a coordinated effort this weekend in Acton on Saturday, June 23, at 10 a.m. at 130 Main St. for supporters to volunteer to help both candidates.
