4th DUI For Cape Cod Man Driving With Dog: Police

Cape Cod police said Matthew Tinti drove a van drunk with his dog then led an officer on a chase.

YARMOUTH, MA — A longtime Cape Cod resident was charged with his four drunk-driving offense Wednesday after police said he was intoxicated as he drove an uninspected van with his dog inside then led officers on a chase. Matthew Tinti, 46, now of Wesley Chapel, Florida, was eventually tased, captured and charged with a host of crimes.

Yarmouth police said on Wednesday at about 10 p.m., officers were conducting a patrol looking for impaired drivers on Route 28when they saw Tinti driving a white van with no safety inspection sticker since 2015. Officers attempted to pull Tinti over but the suspect continued driving and led officers on a chase into Dennis, police said. At one point, he failed to yield for a passing ambulance that had its emergency lights activated, police said. Tinti finally stopped on Crowell Road in Dennis and fled on foot, police said. Officers said they were forced to use a taser to subdue the suspect.

Tinti's license was revoked at the time due to his numerous drunk-driving convictions. Police said he has a "long criminal record." After his arrest Wednesday, he was charged with:
