A Sunday Afternoon Poem

"Now" by Ellie Bates

Now

sun sets early
September dims
across plowed cornfields
a cacophony of geese flies west

summer wanes
like the moon tonight
half full you still glow

my heart half empty
dreams fade
memories make shadows
with your soft light

I pick flowers
still abundant
regain optimism
persistent as change
