Annual Post-Thanksgiving Potluck Jam Tonight

If you’re wondering what in the world to do with all those leftovers, Alex Karalekas has got you covered. Tonight is the Annual Post-Thanksgiving Pot-Luck Jam at the .
For at least five years, has brought together some of the Island’s best musicians for a free concert on the night after Thanksgiving. As with all of the events that Karalekas organizes, the only cover charge is a dish of food to share. And since the very first post-Thanksgiving jam, folks have brought their best Thanksgiving leftovers.
At press time, there were at least 25 bands on the line up including: Michael West, Kevin Keady, Isaac Taylor, Greg and Mary, Brad Tucker, Erin McDermott, Nina Violet, Erich and Sabrina Leuning, , Jason Nichols, Phil DaRosa, Jellybone Rivers, Ollie Childs, Porch Light, Rick O'Gorman, John Standwood, Tristan Israel, Paul Thurlow, Marciana Jones, DCLA, Jimi Ledue and Karalekas himself.

“I’m not some big community organizer,” said Karalekas about why he first put the event together, “but it’s nice that it turned out to be a good thing for the community. The truth is I like to play acoustically. I had an opportunity to put this thing on so that a lot of us could get together and play in a big space. It’s really about the music. The food is just a bonus and so is the freeness.”
The event starts at 5 pm and goes until 10 pm. It is open to everyone - the littlest to the biggest are welcome. “Bring your leftovers,” said Karalekas, “but leave your wallets at home.”
