
The Martha's Vineyard Boys & Girls Club held its Preseason Flag Football League Skills Challenge on Saturday, September 24 at Nunes Field in Edgartown. Fifty-one of the leagues players, ages 8-13, competed in four skills challenges including: passing, field goal kicking, 40 yard dash, and an obstacle course.
Owen Porterfield earned the title of “League’s Fastest Player” recording top times of 6.03 seconds in the 40 yard dash, and 40.68 seconds in the obstacle course. Summer Cardoza and Christopher Patnaude took top honors in the field goal competition, both making kicks from 15 yards. Nicholas Fiore, Jack Sierputoski, Christopher Patnaude, and Nathaniel Packer tied for top honors in the passing challenge, all hitting the target from 20 yards out.
The MV Boys & Girls Club Flag Football League will begin in its 10th season this Saturday, at Nunes Field in Edgartown. The Blue Claws match up against the Volunteers at 8am, followed by the Anglers vs. Islanders at 9am, and The Rock vs. Sharks at 10am.
