Cape Cod Nauti-Block Heroin Dealer: 6 Years In Prison

BOSTON, MA — A Cape Cod Nauti-Block gang associate was recently sentenced to 6 years and 6 months in prison on heroin distribution charges. Jason Mello, 29, of Barnstable, pleaded guilty in federal court in Boston to conspiracy and possession of heroin with intent to distribute. He was sentenced earlier this month to 78 months in prison and 3 years supervised release.

"Mello was charged as part of a federal investigation into the 'Nauti-Block' gang, led by Denzel Chisholm, Christian Chapman and Christopher Wilkins, that resulted in the indictment of 19 individuals," acting U.S. Attorney William Weinreb said in a statement. "These gang leaders obtained heroin from New Bedford, and other areas, and distributed the heroin to numerous drug dealers on Cape Cod, including Mello."

Chisholm was sentenced to 29 years in prison; Chapman was sentenced to 8 years; and Wilkins was sentenced to 9 years.

"Wilkins and Chisholm began distributing heroin tinted 'blue' due to the 'cut' put in the heroin, which was later seized from multiple sources on Cape Cod, indicating its widespread distribution," prosecutors said. "The complaint describes the lengths that Chisholm and Wilkins went to in order to shield themselves from law enforcement detection. Chisholm allegedly employed a girlfriend, Eelyese Mateo, to deliver heroin and store it at her Hyannis home. Chisholm and Wilkins also stored and sold heroin from a stash house operated by Bethanne Hutchings. On March 12, 2016, Chisholm left Hutchings a sample of heroin at her home for her to try. That night, Hutchings overdosed, was found unresponsive by local authorities, and was administered Narcan which ultimately saved her life."
