Dorchester-Cape Cod Opioid Ring: 15 Arrests, 7 Kilos Seized

BARNSTABLE, MA — Ten more suspects involved in a major Cape Cod drug ring were recently arrested, according to authorities. Brothers Alex and Kevin Fraga, ages 25 and 24, respectively, admitted to being the ringleaders. The brothers, who live in Yarmouth, stored huge amounts of fentanyl, heroin and cocaine in Hyannis they obtained from contacts in Dorchester then distributed the drugs to low-level dealers, according to Cape & Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe.

Earlier this month, the Fraga brothers pleaded guilty to multiple charges. On Friday, ten low-level dealers connected to the ring were arrested, according to O'Keefe — bringing the case's arrest total to 15.

Police investigated the ring for three years before arresting the Fraga brothers and three more in August.

"This organization was responsible for distributing kilogram quantities of fentanyl and heroin throughout the Cape Cod area," DEA agent Michael Ferguson said in a statement. "As we all know, fentanyl and heroin are causing deaths across the Commonwealth in record numbers."

Authorities named the investigation "Operation Takeout." While he was running the drug ring, Alex Fraga was also the proprietor of Scottie's Pizza in Hyannis, authorities said.
