'Caring Employer, Community Helper:' Martha's Vineyard Local Hero
We all know someone who's making a difference. Let's help share their amazing stories! Presented by Ring.

MARTHA'S VINEYARD, MA — When times are tough, heroes emerge. But rarely do they get the spotlight they deserve. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.
Here at Patch, we've begun an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.
This submission comes from Debbie Magnuson, who nominated local business owner Steve Bernier for his dedication to his employees and customers at Cronig's Grocery Stores during the coronavirus health crisis. Bernier chose to close one of his grocery stores and tailored hours and rules at his remaining store to help customers get the essential items they need, while also protecting employees who worked long hours under the difficult conditions of the first months of quarantines on the island.

"He has early hours for seniors, was first to limit customers in the store at one time, made the aisles one direction, and (instituted) mandatory mask wearing," Magnuson said. "He's a caring employer and community helper."
Thank you for all you do, Steve!
