Deadly Crash On Martha's Vineyard Leaves One Dead, One Critically Hurt

The 46-year-old passenger from Spencer is facing critical injuries after the car came off the road, killing the driver, police say.

MARTHA'S VINEYARD, MA — One person was killed and another was seriously hurt in a car crash on Martha's Vineyard Wednesday.

Police responded to a report of a crash on New York Avenue just before 1 a.m. and found a Pontiac Grand AM had gone off the road, striking a guardrail and hitting two trees before landing in a yard.

The driver, later identified as Micah Anderson, 28, of Grand Rapids, MI, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Oak Bluffs Fire and EMS Chief Nelson Wirtz told the Martha's Vineyard Times that the car was crumpled, with a significant intrusion into the passenger's side, and a collapsed dashboard.

The passenger, a man only identified as a 46-year-old from Spencer, MA, was pulled from the car and med flighted to a hospital in Boston with life-threatening injuries.

Wirtz told the Times that fire personnel had remained on scene until almost 4 a.m.
