A beached dolphin found in Provincetown was saved by rescuers this week.
PROVINCETOWN, MA — Rescuers saved a beached dolphin found in Provincetown Thursday. Crews from the International Fund for Animal Welfare saved the mammal with the help of local police. The dolphin was loaded into a medical truck, deemed fit to return to the water and released back into the ocean.
Last month, IFAW crews rescued another dolphin found beached in Wellfleet.
Cape Cod and especially the Provicentown and Wellfleet areas are hotspots for dolphin strandings. IFAW officials said people who see stranded dolphins should call its 24-hour hotline at 508-743-9548. and stand nearby the mammal. They advise not to try and push dolphins back into the water.
