Man Killed By Heavy Machinery At Work In Nantucket: Fire Department
The accident occurred around 7:19 a.m. on Arrowhead Drive, the Nantucket Fire Department wrote in a news release.

NANTUCKET, MA — A man is dead after being injured by a piece of heavy machinery while at work at an excavating contractor Monday morning, the Nantucket Fire Department wrote in a news release.
The accident occurred around 7:19 a.m. onsite at Toscana Corporation on Arrowhead Drive, where Nantucket firefighters found the man injured. The firefighters provided emergency medical care before the man was taken to the hospital, where he died, according to Nantucket Fire.
"A tragic accident took place at our yard at 13 Arrowhead this morning and, unfortunately, an employee lost his life," Carl Jelleme, the president and CEO of Toscana, wrote in a statement to Patch. "We are devastated by the loss of such a promising young man."

Jelleme told Patch that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Department of Public Safety are on site and investigating what happened "so we can work to make sure it never happens again."
"We have been in business serving Nantucket since 1979 and have never had a fatality," Jelleme added.

"The thoughts and prayers of the Nantucket Fire Department go out to everyone who has been affected by today’s tragedy," the department wrote in the Monday news release.
