Martha's Vineyard T-Storms: Lightning Hits Houses

Thunderstorms rolled through Martha's Vineyard Thursday night, producing multiple lightning strikes.

MARTHA'S VINEYARD, MA — Two Martha's Vineyard homes were hit by lightning Thursday night ferocious thunderstorm. The worst hit around 7 p.m., as heavy rain and 40 mph wind gusts rolled through. At about 7:09 p.m., a Vineyard Haven home was hit by lightning, damaging the roof, according to the National Weather Service. Then at about 7:16 p.m., an Oaks Bluff house was hit by lightning. No injuries were reported.

Before the thunderstorms hit, the National Weather Service said a tornado was possible, though that did not materialize. Lightning strikes on houses were also reported in Plymouth and Dartmouth.The weekend looks slightly breezy and partly cloudy, with highs in the mid-50s.
