A fire at the Maciel Marine building damaged several boats and automobiles stored inside. According to a story on the Vineyard Gazette’s website, the fire began just before 1 pm on Saturday. No one was injured, and the fire didn't spread to any other buildings. The large, two-story building, which is about 100 feet long and 40 feet wide, was the mechanic shop for the boat yard.
At this point, the cause of the fire and the damage estimate was not known, but it is believed to be accidental. The Gazette reports that the fire is “under investigation by the state fire marshal and state police.”
Volunteer firefighters from Tisbury, Oak Bluffs and Edgartown departments all responded to the fire.

According to the final written decision, on Oct. 6, the project was approved. A few weeks later, Lenny Jason, Jr. requested that the commission consider rescinding its vote, which it did last Thursday. According to the Vineyard Gazette, Vincent entered the plea of guilty on the two charges, which will be continued without a finding. Two civil lawsuits were filed against Mr. Vincent earlier in the year. One stated that he owed to the Massachusetts Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals $190,000 for the sale of a building and another that he owed more than $400,000 from a separate real estate transaction. These lawsuits were dismissed when he paid back the money.
The judge ordered Vincent to pay a $50 monthly probation fee and a $90 victim witness fee. He was also placed on two years administrative probation and ordered to perform 100 hours community service.
