No One Injured, Plane Evacuated After Catching Fire At Nantucket
Nantucket Airport officials said the airport remains open but that aviation operators should expect delays while crews secure the scene.
MARTHA’S VINEYARD, MA — No one was injured Thursday morning when an aircraft caught fire at the Nantucket Airport, which is causing delays in planes coming and going, airport officials said.
Airport officials have not offered many details on the fire but said in social media posts that the crew and passengers have been evacuated from the plane without injury. The fire took place on the airport’s southwest ramp, according to tweets from the airport, and no smoke was reported from the fire.
The airport remains open, officials said, but told pilots to expect delays while emergency crews and other first responders secure the scene. Airport officials praised the response of emergency crews in arriving to the scene in a timely fashion.
