2,000+ Still Without Power on Martha's Vineyard: Update

Winter Storm Jonas dropped 15 inches of snow on Martha's Vineyard Saturday, causing power outages that lasted through Sunday morning.

MARTHA’S VINEYARD, MA — Over 2,000 Martha’s Vineyard customers were without power Sunday morning in the aftermath of Winter Storm Jonas, which dropped 15 inches of snow on the island Saturday.

Most of the outages Sunday morning were in Oak Bluffs (about 1,400) and Edgartown (about 600).

The good news? The rest of Sunday and Monday will be sunny and clear.

Previous update, Saturday 9 p.m.

Power was restored to most of Martha’s Vineyard Saturday night after a blizzard knocked out power to more than 2,000.

At 9 p.m., fewer than 200 were without power on the island, according to Eversource. Most of those outages were in Tisbury.

The snow is expected to pick up through 10 p.m. and taper off around midnight. Up to a foot of snow is likely for the island by Sunday morning.

7 p.m.

Power was knocked out to over 2,000 on Martha’s Vineyard Saturday night at about 7 p.m.

Most of the outages were in Oak Bluffs, according to Eversource’s outage map.

6 p.m.

Power has been restored to all but about 100 Martha’s Vineyard residents.

Winter Storm Jonas brought blizzard conditions that knocked out power for more than 1,000 islanders Saturday afternoon.
