The 34th Annual Tivoli Day in Oak Bluffs

Bring the whole family to Circuit Ave all day for food, fun and a celebration of fall

This year marks the 34th year that Circuit Ave in Oak Bluffs gets blocked off from end to end for an easy-going street fair. Tivoli Day is a day to celebrate all the hard work of the summer and to welcome in the coming of the beautiful Island fall. If you’ve got kids, it’s also one of the most loved days of the year.

The stores that line the street will open their doors, offering end of the year sales and outdoor dining from the local restaurants. There will be live music in two locations: near Post Office Square and close to Union Chapel at the top of Circuit Ave. Island favorites like Phil DaRosa, Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish, the Rick Bausman Band, Ballywho, and Syndicate will be playing throughout the day.

New this year is the 1st annual fundraiser to support the Jena Pothier Flying Horses Scholarship Fund. Jena Pothier, a young woman who was killed in a car accident two years ago, was an employee at Flying Horses for many years. Prizes go for the champion at catching the most rings. Enter one of 4 divisions - Mini Junior - up to age 8, Junior - ages 9-15, Adult - ages 16+, and Professional – for any age. The event starts at 4:30. Entrants are asked to donate $10 and all will receive a commemorative brass ring.

This year, Tivoli Day will be honoring Renee Balter by dedicating the day to her. Balter, a long-time resident of Oak Bluffs, was one of the founders of the Oak Bluffs Association (OBA) – the sponsoring organization of Tivoli Day. Balter recently retired from the organization after 20 years. She was the organizations first president and most recently the vice president.

Members of the Wheelmen organization will be on hand riding and displaying their antique bicycles. There will be raffles and artisans selling handmade wares. The kids can enjoy favorites like the rock climbing wall and new additions like miniature ponies from Vineyard Miniature Horse Rescue.
