Third Town Meeting to Discuss Dogs Doesn’t Yield Much
A special town meeting in West Tisbury last night solved some, but not all, of the dogs on the beach issues

Last night, West Tisbury voters failed for a to come up with a clear solution to the issue of whether and how to during the summer.
The special town meeting took place at the and was attended by 184 voters. According to the Martha’s Vineyard Times, “After a prolonged debate, voters agreed to indefinitely postpone an article to create a new leash law that would have required all dog owners or keepers to keep their pets on a leash when not restricted to their own premises.”
Voters also rejected two articles to fund a new assistant animal control officer to be stationed at in the morning to make sure that owners kept their pets under control and cleaned up after them. However, voters did approve articles to fund a new parking lot attendant to be stationed at the beach in evening to make sure dog owners did not attempt to bring dogs to the beach after other beach attendants had gone home for the day.
