Tree Crashes Through Cape Cod Driver's Car In Nor'easter

ORLEANS, MA — A Cape Cod driver is lucky to be alive after police said a tree crashed through his windshield during Friday's devastating nor'easter. The tree sliced down into the unoccupied passenger seat and could have seriously injured or killed an individual had the seat been occupied.

Friday's storm was blamed for at least one death after a man in Plympton was killed when a tree fell on him. Wind gusts approached 100 mph in Southeastern Massachusetts Friday night.

Cape Cod officials asked drivers to stay off the roads Saturday as crews cleared debris. Strong wind gusts of 50 mph will persist into Saturday night.

More than 300,000 were still without power across Massachusetts, most on Cape Cod. Three storm shelters were opened on the Cape, as reports indicate outages could continue until late next week.
