A dog named Red found in a decrepit home in Blackstone this month was treated by the Medfield Veterinary Clinic on Tuesday, the Medfield Animal Shelter said.

Red was reportedly one of several pets rescued two weeks ago from the home of a Blackstone resident who is now facing charges in the death of three infants, among other charges, according to the Medfield Animal Shelter, which noted that Red “was loaded with fleas, her skin was sore and raw and she was very thin.”

Cleaning crews spent about 90 hours cleaning the Blackstone home, removing everything from soiled mattresses to clothes and “dozens of dirty diapers,” according to MyFoxBoston. Prosecutors said the remains of several animals had been found at the home, according to the Associated Press.

The Medfield Animal Shelter said Red is in need of being spayed, as well as in need of expensive eye surgery and dental care, and is currently accepting donations to help fund the treatment.
