Friday Was Bubble Gum Bob's Official Day in the Town of Medfield

Read the Proclamation making May 31, 2013, Bob's special day in Medfield.

The Board of Selectmen officially proclaimed Friday, May 31, 2013, as "Robert Kennefic Day" in the town of Medfield, and the official proclamation was presented to him -- who is most affectionately known as "Bubble Gum Bob" -- during a community-wide birthday party on Friday afternoon.

Bob, who won't reveal his real age but will say his real birthday is June 10, said the best part about the party at Park Street Books and Toys was that "all my friends are here."

"We thought it would be nice to come because he's done so much for the community," said Jamie, 12.

The official Proclamation read as follows:

Whereas, Robert Kennefic is a long-time resident of the Town of Medfield, currently residing in Tilden Village, and

Whereas, Robert Kennefic is an avid supporter of Medfield Athletic Programs and Sporting Events, attending numerous games at Kingsbury High School, Blake Middle School, and at Metacomet Park, and

Whereas, he has supplied the youth of Medfield with candy and bubble gum at these and other civic events, and

Whereas, Robert Kennefic has amassed an extensive collection of World War II magazines, which he freely and proudly shares with Medfield residents, and

Whereas, Robert Kennefic has been a fixture about Town riding his bicycle here, there and everywhere, and graciously accepts rides from many Town residents, as he goes about his errands, and

Whereas, Bob greets everyone with a wave, a friendly smile and a pleasant disposition.

Now therefore, on the occasion of his birthday, we, the Board of Selectmen of the Town of Medfield do declare this thirty-first day of May in the Year of Our Lord, Two Thousand Thirteen to be "Robert Kennefic Day" in Town of Medfield and ask the citizens of Medfield to join with us in recognizing the unique contributions of Bob to the life of the Town and in wishing him the happiest of birthdays.

Signed and sealed on May 31, 2013 at Medfield, in the County of Norfolk, Massachusetts.
