Today is Medfield's Arbor Day
Celebrate Medfield's first annual Arbor Day at a ceremonial planting of a tree outside 20 North Street at 3 p.m. today.
Today, April 26, 2013, has been officially deemed "Arbor Day" in the town of Medfield.
At its meeting on April 2, the Board of Selectmen made the official ruling as one of the last required steps in the application by the Downtown Study Committee to secure a "Tree City USA" designation for the Town of Medfield.

The Tree City USA program was created by the National Arbor Day Foundation to commend the efforts of tree preservation in American communities. The program promotes forestry within the community as well as education and instilling a sense of pride in the community.
In honor of Medfield's Arbor Day, the Downtown Study Committee will plant a commemorative street tree outside 20 North Street TODAY at 3 p.m.

The public is invited to the ceremonial planting -- of a Bradford Pear which was donated to the town by MEMO -- and a reading of the Arbor Day Proclamation.
This will be the Town’s first Annual Arbor Day Declaration and is being done as a component of an application to become a Tree City.
