Bank Robbed - Again; City Council Heats Up; Green Line Meeting Tonight

Good morning, here are five things to know today:

Three city councilors were not invited to a press conference held by Mayor Michael McGlynn Monday, and they aren’t pleased about it. One said McGlynn’s actions were "Hitler-like," and another ended up getting into a shouting match with the city solicitor during Tuesday’s city council meeting.

2. Green Line Meeting Tonight: The Metropolitan Area Planning Council will hold its public input meeting in the "visioning process" for the second phase of the Green Line extension project, which would bring the line to Route 16 near the Medford/Somerville line. The meeting will be held at City Hall at 7 p.m. with a pre-meeting information session at 6:30 p.m.

The Eastern Bank at 52 Locust Street in Medford was robbed Tuesday for the second time in two weeks. About 11 a.m. Tuesday, a tall white male with a red beard wearing khakis robbed the bank and fled on foot, according to police scanner reports. The man allegedly threatened to have a gun. The bank, which shares a parking lot with Shaw's Supermarket, was previously robbed on Oct. 21. In that incident, the suspect, was described as a white male, about 5' 7" to 5' 11".

A framework is in place that would allow a Verizon franchise for cable and internet in Medford, Mayor Michael McGlynn said Monday. The two sides have reached an agreement and will be in touch with the state later this week, McGlynn said. "Attorneys for the city and Verizon, at some time this week, will follow up with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Telecommunications and ask what procedure we have to follow to accomplish that," McGlynn said.

5. Clear Skies: It's expected to be sunny today with highs in the low-50s, according to the National Weather Service. Tomorrow - mostly sunny with highs in the mid-50s.
